Sachin Tendulkar, Livpure Foundation join hands to fight water contamination

In what is believed to be a coming together of minds, Sachin Tendulkar and Livpure Foundation, the CSR arm of SAR group have joined hands to bring awareness among people on safe drinking water at a campaign launch event in New Delhi.
The foundation has plans to map water quality across different regions of the country and help to create a platform where stakeholder will be able to find solutions for critical water related issues.
It is also the intention of the foundation to work closely with students under the auspices of a program to be called ‘Student Ambassador Program.’ Plans are also afoot to recruit school students and train them in picking water samples for laboratory testing, to check for bacterial growth and other harmful chemicals in them.
Speaking about the campaign, Sachin said that it will aim to reduce death among children due to water borne diseases. He also stressed the need for more concerted movements in the country in this direction to fight water contamination. He said, “The initiative will restore the cleanliness of water bodies and will help in maintaining the ecological balance of the environment.”
The SAR group intends to invest INR 3 crores years annually for the next 6 years to enable the benefits to reach at least 10% of India’s population. Initially the initiative will focus on slums in urban areas in various states like West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, SAR Group Founder Mr Rakesh Malhotra told reporters.
