Audi's cheapest car - A3 launch on 8th August

New Delhi: Audi A3, the cheapest car from the German Luxury car manufacturer, is expected to be launched on August 8, 2014.
The compact luxury sedan is expected to be priced between Rs 23-25 Lakh (ex-showroom) to take on other luxury cars price in the same vicinity like BMW 1 series and Mercedes A class etc. 

With the launch of A3, Audi is trying to create a new segment "the compact luxury sedan." 

Audi emerging as an aspirational brand can offer a good bet for those who owned Skoda Superb, Toyota Camary, Hyundai Sonanta and Honda Accord and want upgrade image and enter the luxury vehicle owners' club. 

A3 will come in both Petrol and Diesel fuel options. The petrol engine is powered by 1.8 TFSI Inline four-cylinder spark-ignition engine with gasoline direct injection, exhaust turbocharger with intercooler, four valves per cylinder, double overhead camshafts (DOHC) which churns out maximum power of 132kw at 5100 - 6200 rpm and top-end torque of 250 nm at 1250 - 5000 rpm. 

The diesel variant is powered by 2.0 TDI Inline four-cylinder diesel engine with VTG turbocharger and indirect charge air cooling, double overhead camshafts (VVT) churning 105 KW at 3500-4000 rpm and produces torque of 320 Nm at 1750 - 3000 rpm. 

With the launch of A3, the luxury carmaker will also introduce new nomenclature system which will be used to calculate the performance of a given model and variant. The company has badged 1.8L TFSI petrol as 40TFSI and 2.0L TDI diesel as 35 TDI.
