Sony introduces UZ series Ultra High Speed SD cards in India

With an eye on the market for photographers as well as videographers, Sony India unveiled a pair of Ultra High Speed SD cards in its UZ series. These SD cards are being made available in 32GB (SDHC) and 64GB (SDXC) memory options and they are priced at Rs 5399 and Rs 9942, in that order.

The UZ series Ultra High Speed SD cards are reported to be out in big-brand electronics stores as well as Sony Center outlets all across India. If you ask us about your choices from other companies, there’s the Ultra microSDXC UHS-1 128GB card which was released by SanDisk for Rs 9999 only last May. It is supposed to work with tablets or phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 which boast of 128GB expandability support.
As for the Sony Ultra High Speed SD cards, they arrive with the company’s very own File Rescue software that includes support for 3D movies and pictures. As the name suggests, it enables users to recover all kinds of other files that were deleted previously too. The UZ series offerings are said to boast of data transfer speeds rated at 90MB per second (write) and 95MB per second (read).
This is owing to the UHS-1 Speed Class 3 ratification that these SD cards from Sony have earned. This certification should also help with the quality of photos being captured as well as smooth 4K video recording. We’re even talking minimal buffering while shooting stills in multi-frame, burst or panoramic modes.
The Sony UZ series Ultra High Speed SD cards are additionally protected with molded resin to make them shockproof and capable of handling extreme temperatures.
