Mercedes set to expand capacity in India

Hyderbad: After selling more than 9,500 cars in India last fiscal, Mercedes Benz is aiming for a double-digit growth this fiscal.
“We are planning to launch new models and increase the manufacturing capacity of its Chakan plant from 10,000 to 20,000 units a year,” said Boris Fitz, VP, sales and network development, Mercedes-Benz India at the South India launch of A-class and B-class Edition 1 in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Asked about the fluctuating currency rate, Mr Fitz said, “After a long time, the exchange rate is developing in positively. We have already been doing a number of price corrections, yet the pressure is still there. We will watch carefully what the Budget gives as stimulus”.
